Bond yields climb for a fifth week

Benchmark yields climbed for a fifth week, the longest stretch since June 2008, as a finance ministry official said India may borrow more than planned in the first half of the financial year that started April 1.

The yield on the 6.05 per cent note due February 2019 climbed 21 basis points this week to 6.70 per cent at the close, according to the central bank’s trading system. The price dropped Rs 1.45 per Rs 100 face amount to 95.45.
