Centurion Bank of Punjab (CBoP), the new entity following the merger between Centurion Bank and the Bank of Punjab, will be opening branches in Bangalore and Vijayawada.

This is part of its aggressive strategy to reach out to all parts of the country under which it will be opening 30 new branches in the present fiscal. Five branches would go to un-banked and rural areas.

Harpreet Singh, head of branch banking and wealth management services of the bank said the bank would open six new branches in UP, five each in Maharashtra and Gujarat, and three each in Punjab and Haryana.

Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, West Bengal and Jharkhand will have one new branch each, Singh added.

Presently, 48 out of CBPL's 241 branches are in South India while North India is in a dominating position having bulk of the bank's branches. "We are the number one private bank in Punjab where we have 66 branches alone while in Haryana and Delhi, we are also in a strong position," Singh said.
