Tamil Nadu-based City Union Bank today said its net profit for the second quarter ended September 30 rose 40.53% at Rs 37.65 crore over the corresponding period a year ago.
It had a net profit of Rs 26.79 crore in Q2 of FY08, City Union Bank said in a filing to the Bombay stock exchange.
The bank's total income rose to Rs 218.32 crore in the quarter under review from Rs 169.95 crore in the same period last fiscal.
For the six months ended September 30, the bank reported a net profit of Rs 63.88 crore, against Rs 48.16 crore in the same period last year.
Shares of City Union Bank were trading at Rs 16.50, down 4.07% in afternoon trade on the BSE.
