The Maharashtra State Co-operative Banks' Association today cried foul on the "step-motherly" treatment given to co-operative banks by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). |
Co-operative banks should not be compared with public sector banks as the area of operations of co-operative banks is limited and these cater to the weaker section of the community, hence the RBI should reconsider the imposition of international accounting standards on co-operative banks, said Gulabrao Shelke, chairman, Maharashtra State Co-operative Banks' Association. |
