SBI has appointed Hemant Contractor, deputy managing director, its new chief financial officer, replacing S S Ranjan.
It has not announced a new portfolio for Ranjan, who retires in the next financial year.
Contractor was looking after the wholesale banking business. He is one of the DMDs identified as a possible candidate for promotion as a managing director. Being senior-most amongst DMDs is widely perceived as next in line for the post of chairman after O P Bhatt, the incumbent, retires on March 31, 2011.
