The Andhra Pradesh Urban and Town Co-operative Banks' Association's (APUTCBA) 10th conference will be held in Visakhapatnam on January 8.

About 300 delegates including representatives from the Reserve Bank of India, State government and association national leaders will participate in the conference, Manam Anjaneyulu, president, APUTCBA, told the media here on Tuesday.

The conference would discuss the reasons for uneven growth of urban banks in the country, he said. Of about 1,872 urban co-operative banks in the country, about 80 per cent are in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka. Maharashtra has 600 banks in operations. In Andhra Pradesh, currently only 125 banks are in operation.

The conference will also give suggestions to strengthen the urban co-operative banks in the state, he said.
