Dena Bank seeks govt Rs 1,300 cr for capital requirement

Public sector Dena Bank has approached the government for infusion of Rs 1,300 crore to meet capital requirement norms, a top official of the bank said.

"We have approached the government for Rs 1,300 crore," Executive Director Dena Bank Ashok Dutta said.

The first tranche of around Rs 500 crore to Rs 600 crore was expected to arrive any moment, he told reporters at the opening of a bank branch at Murshidabad, West Bengal.

This, he said, would take care of the capital requirements of the bank for the next two years.
    
During 2009-10, the bank was expecting to clock business of Rs 87,000 crore.
    
He said that net interest margin would be under pressure during the year due to implementation of base rate.
