Dhanlaxmi Bank on Thursday reported a net profit of Rs 4.39 crore for the third quarter ended December, 2012. It had reported a loss of Rs 36.87 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
The income of the Trissur-based private sector bank, however, declined to Rs 352.11 crore from Rs 390.85 crore a year ago, it said in a filing to the BSE. The net non-performing assets (NPA), or bad loans, of the bank in the third quarter rose to 2.93 per cent from 0.35 per cent a year earlier.
In value terms, the net NPA during the quarter stood at Rs 216.02 crore as against Rs 33.82 crore, the bank said. For the nine months ended December 2012, the bank trimmed its losses to Rs 26.04 crore from Rs 29.12 crore, it added.
Total income during the same period (April-December) of 2012-13 fell to Rs 1,053.05 crore from Rs 1,171.88 crore in the year-ago period. Shares of the bank on Thursday ended at Rs 63.95 apiece on the BSE, down 0.39 per cent from their previous close.
