Emirates airline says it plans to receive its fifth Airbus A380 "superjumbo" next week and another before year's end after lining up more than $1 billion in financing.

The Dubai government-owned carrier -- West Asia's biggest and the world's top buyer of the plane -- says it expects to receive four more of the double-decker aircraft next year.

Emirates' announcement today comes as other Dubai state-run companies are under increasing scrutiny over their willingness to pay back more than $80 billion in debt.

Emirates President Tim Clark says the airline is in a "secure financial position."

The carrier says it received a total of $1.13 billion in financing for the six A380s from Citigroup and Doric Asset Finance.
