The cumulative financial assistance to Uttar Pradesh (UP) by the central finance agency, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural development (Nabard) has touched Rs 7,765 crore. These advances have been made under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), which is mainly utilised for rural infrastructure projects, including canals, roads, flood control, bridges, irrigation etc.
So far, over 16,000 projects had been sanctioned under the scheme, Nabard Chief General Manager, UP Regional Office, D P Misra said here.
The state government has been receiving financial assistance under RIDF, since its inception in 1995-96.
This financial year, Nabard has sanctioned a loan of Rs 135 crore, including Rs 97 crore for 227 rural roads to be constructed in eight districts. The rural roads and bridges will provide connectivity to 459 villages.
