Forex reserves up $1.74bn to $144.37bn

Foreign exchange reserves increased $1.738 billion to $144.375 billion for the week ended August 12, 2005, according to the weekly supplement released by the RBI on Saturday.

Foreign currency assets increased $1.858 billion to $138.524 billion. Gold reserves and SDRs were unchanged at $4.395 billion and $4 million, respectively.

The Reserve Tranche Position with the IMF declined $120 million to $1.452 billion.
