Forex reserves zoom $4bn to $229bn

Foreign exchange reserves zoomed $3.992 billion to $229.342 billion for the week ended August 3, according to data released by the Reserve Bank today.

Foreign currency assets increased $3.892 billion to $221.988 billion.

Gold reserves were up $100 million at $6.887 billion.

SDRs and the Reserve Position in the IMF were steady at $12 million and $455 million, respectively.
