Gujarat bureaucrat Hasmukh Adhia has been nominated as a director on the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India.
The 1981-batch IAS officer, who hails from Rajkot, was nominated by the Central government to replace Gurdial Singh Sandhu.
"The Central Government has nominated Hasmukh Adhia, secretary, department of financial services, ministry of finance, New Delhi as a director on the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India vice Gurdial Singh Sandhu. Hasmukh Adhia's nomination is with effect from November 11, 2014 and until further orders," a press communique issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said.
Prior to heading before Delhi, he served as Additional Chief Secretary, finance department in the Gujarat government.
He has also served as principal secretary to then Gujarat chief minister and present Prime Minister Narendra Modi from May 2004 to May 2006. He also served as principal secretary in the education department apart from stints in Gujarat Industrial Investment Corporation (GIIC) and Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC).
