HDFC Bank, which is sitting on a pile of cash following its $172.5 million (Rs 830 crore) American depository share (ADS) issue, may not sit quiet for long. Sources say it is looking at acquiring a public sector bank with a balance sheet size of around Rs 15,000 crore.
HDFC Bank managing director Aditya Puri, however, denied that the bank is looking at any takeovers right now. He said:
