ICICI Lombard General Insurance and Amadeus, a service provider for computer reservation system (CSR) in India, have tied up to make accessible ICICI Lombard's overseas travel insurance policy through travel agents across the country.

Customers can now easily get their overseas travel insurance done at the same time when they are doing their ticketing and booking from over 4,000 travel agencies in 89 cities.

"Growth in the retail market has been hampered due to the challenge of procedure and documentation. Our alliance with Amadeus allows a travel agent to issue our policy on the same platform on which he issues the air ticket. The data is also uploaded on the web, allowing the agent to view and manage all his transactions conveniently. This will help increase penetration and offer customers affordable insurance products," said Kartik Jain, head-marketing, ICICI Lombard.

The whole process of buying overseas travel insurance has now become seamless and hassle-free, as it can be implemented online and the cover is issued along with the ticket.

Moreover, the customer also gains from the fact that the calculation of premium is done on a per day basis and not on a slab basis.

Thus, if a customer is travelling for 16 days, the premium is calculated for 16 days and not on a slab basis for 14 to 21 days. This ensures that the customer does not pay for what he/ she does not use.
