The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (Irda) has issued a clarification last week to its earlier directive on agency commissions.

Commission levels will be left free for the insurance companies to decide in the case of individual risk business where the upper cap has been identified at 15 per cent for both tariff and non-tariff products. This is as opposed to the maximum cap of five per cent on corporate business.
