With at least one member of every family in the state boasting of a bank account, Union minister of state for finance, Pawan Kumar Bansal, on Monday announced that Kerala has become a total banking state. |
The southern state becomes only the third in India to achieve the recognition. Goa and Himachal Pradesh had achieved this distinction earlier. |
The minister was in the capital to attend the 94th meeting of the State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC). |
The meeting, which also reviewed the progress of the total financial inclusion campaign in the state, found that Kerala has successfully completed its efforts aimed at financial inclusion. |
