Insurance claims for kidney-related ailments is on the rise. Data from ICICI Lombard General Insurance said that there has been an increasing of kidney disease related claims over the last few years in India.
From 2011-2015, the insurer's internal claims data showed that maximum claims are from the age group of 19 years and 25 years. This shows are younger people are getting diagnosed with kidney-related ailments. The next vulnerable age group is 45-60 years. About 31% of the claims come from that age group.

The number of claims pertaining to kidney related disorders have been on a high. With respect to gender disparities, kidney-related claims from women were higher than men in the period 2011- 2013, but there has been a shift in the trend from past two years.
