The south-central zone of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has set a premium target of Rs 15,500 crore, including a first premium income of Rs 1,550 crore, for the current financial year. |
It registered a total premium income of Rs 8,656 crore including a first premium income of Rs 1,147 crore, during the last financial year. |
T Chattopadhyaya, south-central zonal manager of LIC, disclosed this to mediapersons at the launch of Insurance Week celebrations today to celebrate the 48th anniversary of the corporation. |
The south-central zone covers Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka and has 16 divisions "� nine in AP and seven in Karnataka. |
He said that the zone recorded a sum assured of Rs 6,861.4 crore including a first premium income of Rs 313.56 crore as on August 15, 2004. |
The corporation had covered 10 'bima grams', ie, villages having over 100 policies each, as of July 31, 2004. During the last fiscal, the corporation covered 865 'bima grams' in the south-central zone. |
