Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has announced a special bonus for its policyholders to mark its 50th anniversary. The quantum of bonus would vary from one policyholder to another, depending on the year in which they bought policies.

The maximum allocation were made for those policyholders who bought the insurance policy before March 31, 1981. They will receive an additional Rs 50 per Rs 1,000 insured.

Besides, Rs 45 and Rs 6 per Rs 1,000 insured will be given to policyholders who have bought the insurance policy between April 1981 to March 2001. Policyholders from April 2001 will get Rs 5 per Rs 1,000 insured.

As a part of golden jubilee celebration, LIC has also launched a product 'Bima Gold'. It is a low-cost protection plan with returns of 15 per cent of sum assured at the end of 4th and 8th year.

The state-run insurer is planning to have three satellite offices in Mumbai and 29 satellite offices across the country to reduce the hassles for its policyholders in making premium payment.

With the celebration of 50th anniversary, LIC is moving closer to the customer. The satellite offices will provide customers the facility to make their premium payments, claims payments, addressing the enquiries related to their policies and policy servicing without going to the main branch.
