"We will get the final report by tomorrow from all state level bankers committees (SLBC) on the readiness of lenders to implement the farm debt waiver and relief scheme. Thereafter, lenders will be asked to put out the names of the beneficiaries. The scheme will be implemented before June 30," a government official said.

The lenders are likely to get a go ahead from the finance ministry by tomorrow or the day after. Though most of lenders were ready with their final report, the process of verification continued till today for some banks so as to ensure that all eligible farmers get coverage.

The ministry has roped in SLBCs, an inter-institutional forum for coordination and joint implementation, to oversee smooth operationalisation of the scheme by commercial banks, regional rural banks and cooperatives.

"We are waiting for all lenders to be ready, so that the farm loan waiver scheme is implemented in a uniform manner throughout the country. This will help in the redressal of grievances in a more effective manner," the official said.
