Mark Robinson to head Citi's South Asia ops

Citigroup has appointed Mark Robinson as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Citi South Asia. Based in Mumbai, he will lead Citi's banking franchise in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, and also join the Asia Pacific executive committee.

Robinson succeeds Sanjay Nayar, who is leaving the firm to pursue other opportunities.

Robinson is a 24-year Citi veteran, who has spent the majority of his career in emerging markets. He is currently president of Citibank ZAO, Citi's country officer for Russia and division head for Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

In a statement issued, Ajay Banga, CEO Asia Pacific, said: "Mark brings emerging markets expertise and knowledge, as well as broad experience gained from working across our universal banking model as a frontline relationship manager, trader and senior manager."
