  • Gilts were rangebound with good buying seen after the inflation figures were released today.
  • Long-tenor gilts moved in a 20 paise range whereas in the medium term, prices were in the range of 10-15 paise
  • The 10-year benchmark 7.27 per cent 2013 closed around 5.111/5.12 per cent.
  • Call rate was comfortable at 4/4.5 per cent
  • Repo subscriptions went up to Rs 24,355 crore amid huge liquidity.

  • The rupee had a topsy-turvy ride over the comments made by RBI deputy governor citing there was no volatility in the forex market. The rupee closed at a low of 45.76 to a dollar.
  • Forward premiums were trading at a discount up to five months. The six-month and one-year premiums closed at 0.04 per cent and 0.38 per cent.
  •  Outlook
     The spot rupee is expected to open in a wide range of 45. 70-80 to a dollar.
