The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned a loan of Rs 32.28 crore to the Haryana government for construction of two godowns with storage capacity of 74,000 metric tonnes (MT) in Fatehabad district under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), said K Sayeed Ali, chief general manager, Nabard, Haryana Regional Office.

The construction of these godowns would benefit farmers of 13 villages attached to the Ratia, Fatehabad and Bhattu mandis, storing precious food grains in a scientific and hygienic manner. These new godowns shall reduce post harvest losses of grains to an extent of about 6 per cent. The implementation of the project by the food and supplies department is also likely to generate about 3.81 lakh mandays of non-recurring employment and around 32 mandays recurring employment.

With this, Nabard has sanctioned RIDF loan of Rs 237.98 crore till date for the year 2012-13.

The total RIDF assistance sanctioned to the state government under RIDF, since inception of RIDF in 1995-96, has now reached at Rs 3,756.95 crore and an amount of Rs 2,328.41 crore has been disbursed there against till date.
