Nabard sanctions infra projects to Punjab govt

Nabard has sanctioned Rs 144.49 crore to the Punjab government under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF-XVII) for two projects. The first project for "Construction of seven Rural Roads in six districts" of the state has a total financial outlay of Rs 82.73 crore and RIDF loan of Rs 66.17 crore.

While, the second project for "Eradication of Water-logging problem in Muktsar district" of the state has a total financial outlay of Rs 83.13 crore and RIDF loan of Rs 78.32 crore. It envisages construction of new surface, lift and subsurface drains. Krishan Jindal, chief general manager, Punjab regional office, indicated that when completed, the first project would provide better road connectivity to 164 villages and 25 marketing centres in the state of Punjab. The second project will help in addressing the water logging problem in Muktsar district of the state benefiting 24,680 hectares of agricultural land. These projects will help in developing the rural infrastructure in the state.

 

With the sanction of these projects, cumulative sanction to Punjab under RIDF stood at Rs 5175.97 crore .
