The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned Rs 282.82 crore this year with loan assistance to the Government of Karnataka for building up of rural infrastructure projects. With current year’s sanction under RIDF XVI to Karnataka, the cumulative sanctions to the state is expected to reach Rs 710 crore, an official statement said.
Various projects in 14 flood affected districts, which were severely affected during the last year’s floods including a bridge project over Thungabadra river in Raichur district are covered under this sanction.
Implementation of 299 rural roads and bridge projects with an outlay of Rs 2.04 crore creating a total road length of 466.71 km is expected to benefit 22 districts of the state connecting 1,155 villages with 451 marketing centres. Non-recurring employment generation with these projects is estimated at 5.74 million mandays.
The current sanction also includes, financial assistance to the tune of Rs 47.45 crore for 66 irrigation projects covering 5,050 hectares, Rs 7.78 crore for 246 Anganwadis, Rs 50.21 crore for 104 Education institutions (construction of Secondary Schools, PU Colleges, BC Hostels, Hostels for SC/ST students), Rs 4.67 crore for 20 rural godowns & 7 market yards and Rs 9.46 crore for 58 Veterinary Institutions.
