The bank offers large number of products for its customers engaged in industries like shipping and would develop some new products as well, Bjerke said.

He further said that the bank already has strong links with Indian ship owning community and serves Indian companies in shipping, offshore, logistics and energy. Besides, an increasing number of Norwegian companies have established themselves in India and making more investment.

The Mumbai representative office will compliment the bank's Singapore and Shanghai operations and thus serve the entire Asia region.
