With 2 products, it earns Rs 842 cr premium income against Rs 982 cr by 12 private players

Even though the rural India continues to beckon the private life insurance companies, it is the postal department that has stolen the thunder.

With just two insurance products under its belt, the department earned Rs 842 crore in premium income during 2002-03, while the 12 private insurers together managed just Rs 982 crore.
