The Agriculture Insurance Company of India (AIC) has announced the insurance payout for coffee growers under the Rainfall Insurance Scheme for Coffee (RISC) for the worst-affected regions. |
According to a Coffee Board release, Shanivarasanthe, Mudigere, Mallandur and Yeslur are the worst-affected regions and a relief of Rs 8000 per hectare for Arabica and Rs 6000 per hectare for Robusta has been fixed. |
Regions eligible for relief are Srimangala, Madikeri, Napoklu, Kalasa, Koppa and Hanbal at Rs 5000 per hectare for Arabica and Rs 4000 per hectare for Robusta and Somwarpet, Gonibeedu and Balehonnur at Rs 3000 per hectare for Arabica and Rs 2000 per hectare for Robusta. |
AIC also plans to release the insurance payout by the end of this month. This year only the Karnataka coffee growers had availed of RISC implemented by AIC. |
Though the scheme was implemented in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Prdesh and Karnataka for the monsoon shower insurance during May 2007, only Karnataka's growers had availed of the scheme. |
