RBI board meets to review economic scenario

The Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India met here today to review the key economic, monetary and financial developments.

RBI Governor D Subbarao chaired the meeting held at the Reserve Bank's Regional headquarters.

It was attended, among others, by former Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Anil Kakodkar, former NASSCOM President Kiran Karnik, professor Rajeev Gowda and National Advisory Committee Chairman Y H Malegam,s Economic Affairs Secretary R Gopalan, Reserve Bank Deputy Governors K C Chakrabarty, Subir Gokarn, Anand Sinha and H R Khan.

The Central Board meets at least once every quarter to take stock of the currency economic scenario.

It schedules its meetings in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata every year, while the other meetings are held in the remaining state capitals, RBI said in a statement

Subbarao, who arrived here yesterday, called on Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah. The RBI Governor and top management of the Bank also called on State Government officials and  bankers, the release added.
