With only two working days between Saturday and April 3, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday said it would closely monitor the liquidity situation and conduct liquidity operations if required. Saturday is a bank holiday on account of Ram Navami. This would be followed by a holiday on April 2 for Mahavir Jayanti and then April 3 for Good Friday.

“Reserve Bank will continue to closely monitor the evolving liquidity conditions during the week and will conduct appropriate liquidity operations, as might be required,” RBI said.

The central bank has also changed the timing of the reverse repo and marginal standing facility (MSF) operations on March 31.

“Taking into account the extended banking hours for conducting government business on March 31, and with a view to providing flexibility to the banking system for its liquidity management, RBI has decided to shift the timings of reverse repo and MSF operations to be conducted on March 31, 2015 from 7.00 pm-7.30 pm to 9.00 pm-9.30 pm,” the central bank stated.
