The rupee gave up early gains to end weaker today after Indian importers, opting for caution, stepped up purchases of the dollar as it hovered just off this week's seven-month highs against the Euro.

The rupee closed weaker at 43.48 per dollar as compared to yesterday's close of at 43.47, after slipping off a 43.41 morning peak.
