Outlook: The spot rupee is likely to open in the range of 43. 54/57 to a dollar on Friday.
 
Sentiment: Dull
 
  • The spot rupee opened at 43.50/51 but closed at 43.55/56 after gaining an intraday high of 43.48 to a dollar.
  • Six-month and one-year forward dollars closed at 1.44 per cent and 1.27 per cent respectively.
 
Money market
 
Sentiment: Bullish
 
  • Gilt prices rallied in the first half of trading session, whereas profit booking took over in the post auction period.
  • Long and medium-tenure gilts went up by 50 paise, whereas short-term papers saw prices going up by 20-25 paise.
  • The 10-year 7.38 per cent 2015 gilt closed at 6.83 per cent.
  • Call rates were comfortable, whereas reverse repo bids came down to around Rs 11,000 crore owing to reporting Friday tomorrow.
  • The new paper, 7.49 per cent 2017, moved up by 10 paise after being auctioned at a cut-off price of Rs 104.60.
