Government security prices surged as investors, barring nationalised banks, went on a buying spree after the inflation rate slid further. Prices of long-term securities gained 40-45 paise, while those of medium- and short-term gilts moved up 35 paise and 15-20 paise respectively. Yield on the ten-year benchmark paper, 7.37 per cent, closed at 6.76 percent. Call money rates were ended higher at 4.60 per cent. Repo outstandings stood at Rs 9,610 crore.
