Outlook: The rupee is expected to open between 45.84 and 45.88 against the greenback on Friday.
 
Sentiment: Moderate
 
  • The rupee opened at 45.84/85 per dollar and ended lower at 45.8550/86 due to dollar demand from importer demand. It hit an intraday low of 45.88.
  • Premiums on forward dollars inched up. Annulalised premiums on six-month and one-year dollars closed at 2.51 per cent and 2.12 per cent respectively.
 
Money market
 
Sentiment: Bearish
 
  • Government security prices bounced back as investors sought value buys.
  • Prices of medium-term securities shot up by 40 paise, while those of short- and long-term securities gained 10-15 paise and 20-25 pasie respectively.
  • Yields on corporate bonds inched down on Thursday, with some buying seen mostly in the 2007 segment.
  • Call money rates ruled around 4.6 per cent.
  • Repo outstanding stood at Rs 10,400 crore.
  • The five-year benchmark bond yield dipped to 6.96 per cent from Tuesday's 7.04 per cent.
