Re moves up to 43.52/$, gilts decline

The rupee opened at 43.53 per dollar, and moved up to 43.51 on the back of dollar selling by banks before closing at 43.52 per dollar.

Prices of government securities fell after the government announcement to stick to Rs 10,000 crore auction next week.

Prices of long-term gilts fell by 30-35 paise whereas medium and short term gilts slipped by 15-25 paise.

The 10-year, 7.38% 2015 bond closed at an yield of 6.94%.

Call rates ruled higher at 5.7% and reverse repo bids amounted to Rs 6,000 crore.
