Re moves up to 43.54/$, gilts decline

The spot rupee opened at 43.51 per dollar, and closed at 43.54 per dollar as against the previous close of 43.57 per dollar.

Prices of government securities moved up on buying at  lower levels.

While prices of long and medium term papers moved up by 15-20 paise, short-term papers moved up 10 paise.

The 10-year, 7.38% 2,015 bond closed at an yield of 7.20%.

While call rates were higher at 5.25-5.30%, reverse repo bids totalled Rs 3,600 crore.
