Re scales to 5-1/2 year high at 43.30/$

The rupee rose to a 5-1/2 year high on the dollar today after a report that China would widen its currency band as early as next week, boosting shares of textiles which compete with Chinese exports.

Rupee leapt to a high of 43.26 per dollar, breaking through a five-year peak of 43.30 set in February. It closed at 43.29/30, 0.3% up from yesterday's close.
