Re slips to 43.53/$, gilts steady

The spot rupee slipped to 43.53 per dollar today as against the last weekend close of 43.48 per dollar.

The government securities market was subdued today. The 10-year, 7.38% 2,015 bond closed at an yield of 7%.

Call rates were comfortable at 4.5-5%, and reverse repo bids totalled Rs 31,295 crore.

Dealers said the market is jittery apprehending another rate hike after the forthcoming FOMC meeting.
