Re steady at 43.73/$, gilts subdued

The spot rupee, which touched an intra-day high of 43.64 per dollar in intra-day deals, closed at 43.73 per dollar on buying by PSU banks. The rupee had closed around the same level yesterday.

The government securities market was lacklustre with excess liquidity leading to a small decline in yields today.

The benchmark 10-year 7.38% 2,015 paper ended at an yield of 6.62% as against its previous closing yield of 6.63%.
