This is despite provisions under the Securitisation Act which allow banks to attach properties of defaulters.
The bank has to recover Rs 2,182 crore from 1,600 defaulters. The bank has sent notices to 119 defaulters under the Securitisation Act, while it has filed 801 civil suits against defaulters.
The new bank management has filed 60 cases before the Crime Investigation Department (CID), while 19 cases are pending with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Of the Rs 2,182 crore, Rs 1,711 crore is the principal amount, while the rest is the cumulative interest on the borrowed amount.
Most of the money recovered are from small-time borrowers, while big-ticket borrowers such as Ketan Parekh, Sirish Maniar and Mukesh Babu remain least contributors.
