The Rushikulya Gramya Bank (RGB), one of the regional rural banks in Orissa, will soon introduce on-line transaction facilities and issue biometric ATM cards to its customers.

The bank will go for the requisite technology development with support from the sponsored bank, Andhra Bank after implementation of the Core Banking Solution (CBS) in all of its 81 branches located in south Orissa’s Ganjam and Gajapati districts.

The bank branches are expected to migrate to CBS platform by March 2011. It may be noted, the government of India has asked all RRBs across the country to be CBS compliant with the help of their respective sponsored banks by the end of September next year.

“We have already prepared the roadmaps for implementing CBS with support from our sponsoring bank, Andhra Bank”, said the chairman of the bank, PVSTR Seshagiri Rao. “Our first CBS branch will be rolled out in July and by the end of September, around 50 percent of the branches will be CBS compliant.

All the branches are expected to be networked by the end of the current financial year”, he added.

He said, the bank will tie up with Andhra Bank for the use of ATMs of the sponsoring bank by the customers of RGB. The customers of RGB can conduct their transactions through ATMs of Andhra Bank any where in the country.
