Amid hectic parleys on various options for payment to Iran for oil imports, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday said it was considering the rupee as one of the options.

"We are considering the rupee as an option," RBI deputy governor H R Khan told reporters on the sidelines of an event here. Khan also said India was continuing to look for various options to make payments to Iran for oil supplies. "There are different options which are being evaluated," he said. Payments to Iran by India for oil imports faced rough weather further after the United States and Europe tried to corner the country on its alleged nuclear programme.
