Rupee ends at 40.22/$

Demand for dollars from importers and lack of fresh inflows saw the spot rupee breach the crucial barrier of 40 per dollar, and close at a seven-month low of 40.22 per dollar.

The spot rupee had closed at 39.92 per dollar yesterday.
