Rupee ends lower at 46.3550/$

Forex market

Outlook: The rupee is expected to open in the range of 46.33/35 to a dollar.

Sentiment: Dull

• The rupee opened at 46.32/33 per dollar and closed at lower 46.3550.
• Premiums on forward premiums inched up marginally. Annualised premiums on six-month and one-year dollars closed at 2.49 per cent and 1.99 per cent respectively.

Money market

Sentiment: Moderate

• Government security prices slid due to selling pressure during the end of the day.
• Prices of long-term securities fell by Re 1, while those of medium-term gilts declined by 40-50 paise during Tuesday's trading.
• The yield on the ten-year benchmark paper, 7.37 per cent 2014, closed higher at 5.94 per cent, compared with 5.91 per cent on Monday.
• Inter-bank call money rates remained at 4.20-4.30 per cent.
