Rupee falls by 20 paise/ $ in early trade

The Indian rupee today depreciated by 20 paise against the $ in early trade on increased demand for the US currency from importers.

At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (forex) market, the domestic currency was quoted at 48.10 a $, a loss of 20 paise over the previous close. The rupee closed at 47.90 a $ against the greenback yesterday.

Marketmen said increased demand for $ from importers put pressure on the rupee.
