Rupee up 10 paise against $ in morning deals

The Indian rupee today appreciated by nearly 10 paise to 51.30/32 against the American currency in late morning deals on dollar selling by exporters.

In quite trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the domestic unit opened steady at 51.39/40 a dollar from its overnight close of 51.40/41.

After moving in a range of 51.28 and 51.42, it later quoted higher at 51.30/32 in late morning deals.

The Indian benchmark Sensex was quoting slightly lower by 17.22 points or 0.19 per cent at 1015 hours, after three sessions of hefty gains.

According to forex dealers, there was some dollar selling at higher levels by exporters and foreign banks that helped the rupee rally.
