The State Bank of India (SBI) on Thursday promoted three chief general managers (CGM) to the posts of deputy managing directors (DMDs). They are: A D Kalmankar, CGM in charge of Staff College of Hyderabad, A K Das, CGM, Hyderabad; and R K Sinha, CGM, Chandigarh.
They will fill in the posts of DMD, inspection and management audit; managing director (MD), State Bank of Patiala, and managing director, State Bank of Travancore. The MDs of the associate banks are in the rank of DMD of the SBI.
The post of DMD, inspection and management audit in Hyderabad, has been lying vacant ever since Chandan Bhattacharya has been shifted to the SBI headquarters in Mumbai as chief credit officer (CCO). SBI chairman A K Purwar was earlier the MD of State Bank of Patiala and SBI managing director P N Venkatachalam was the MD of State Bank of Travancore.
Venkatachalam and A K Batra were appointed managing directors last year following the superannuation of Y Radhakrishnan and S Govindarajan. Batra heads corporate banking and Venkatachalam is the group head of national banking. Purwar, managing director, State Bank of Patiala, replaced Janki Ballabh as chairman of State Bank.
