SBI strike costs Rs 55,000 crore loss in MP, Chhattisgarh

The on-going SBI employees'strike has resulted in around Rs 55,000 crore losses in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
 
"Cheques worth Rs. 2,000 crore are pending in the two states, of which Indore alone accounts for Rs 100 crore," said Ravi Bilgaiyan, secretary of SBI Officers' Association, Indore.
 
The SBI employees are staging protest on regional head quarters. About 2 lakh and 10 thousand officers and employees of the State Bank of India are on this nationwide strike.
 
There are 9,000 branches of the State Bank of India in the country. Because of the strike, the total business transactions of around Rs 70,000 crore got affected.
 
In Indore, long queues of customers can be seen at ATMs. Customers are withdrawing large sums of money due to the uncertainity, said sources.
 
"The strike may last long, therefore, I am withdrawing more money than I normally do," said a customer.
