Small Industries Development Bank of India (Sidbi) engaged in promotion and financing of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), is eyeing disbursements of Rs 45,000 crore in 2013-14.

This would be a growth of 12.5 per cent over Rs 40,000 crore which Sidbi disbursed in last fiscal.

"We have set an overall disbursement target of Rs 45,000 crore for this fiscal. Besides MSMEs, we are also lending to micro finance institutions (MFIs) but we are selective in lending to such institutions”, said S Muhnot, chairman and managing director (CMD), Sidbi.

Sidbi, the apex bank for the MSME sector, has taken the initiative to establish 'Sidbi MSME International Training Centre' in Bhubaneswar. The centre, apart from providing in-house training to its employees, will also provide expert guidance and training support to various stakeholders in the sector.

"This is the first of its kind centre in the country. We feel that the need for training of MSMEs is the highest in the eastern region and we have chosen Bhubaneswar because it offers a lot of educational infrastructure. For the start-ups, the centre will offer entrepreneurship development programmes. Certificates will be provided to the entrepreneurs on completion of training programmes”, he said.

The training centre, Sidbi CMD said, can train 90 participants simultaneously.

On other initiatives of Sidbi,  Muhnot said, the bank has hosted a comprehensive website smallB for development of youth entrepreneurship, advisory services to MSMEs through 300 cluster based credit advisory centres, loan syndication service of Sidbi and capacity building of urban cooperative/regional rural banks.

N K Maini, deputy managing director of Sidbi said, “The training centre would encourage evolving of new ideas, products and services by interaction amongst different participants, experience sharing of good practices and focused research into the needs of the MSME sector.”
